Well... that’s the formal description over and done with. My version is much less superwoman-sounding! If I had to sum it up I’d say I am a businesswoman, professional adventurer, wife and mother.  I am so thrilled that my job entails meeting people all over the world and getting to play a small part in their journeys through my speeches, courses, books and The Debra Searle Academy.

Much of my identity is wrapped up in the fact that I am one half of identical twins, given up for adoption at birth. After a poor performance at school, I learnt to tap into my potential during the unplanned 3½ months I spent alone at sea rowing the Atlantic. It was potential I had no idea I had. I love my job(s) and my family.

i wasn't one of those kids who dreamt of being on television!

Mid-Atlantic I shared my feelings with a camcorder. On reaching dry land the BBC were so taken with the footage that the Six O’Clock News made a five minute feature out of it. All it took was that and an honest interview for BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and things took off. I’ve now made over 40 programmes for the BBC as well as working for ITV, Channel 5, CBBC and Sail TV. I gave up TV presenting when my children came along but still use my broadcasting skills daily on stage and during live virtual presentations.
